Clifford Federspiel is President and Chief Technology Officer of Vigilent, which uses IoT, machine learning and predictive analytics to dynamically manage cooling in mission critical environments. Vigilent reduces operating costs, unlocks stranded capacity and increases reliability in these facilities worldwide. With more than 20 years of experience with energy management and HVAC, Cliff continues to advocate for sustainable energy solutions and green technology. He is the author of more than 50 papers on such topics as HVAC and CRAC control, indoor air quality, and cooling optimization. He holds numerous patents in the field and is the recipient of the Ralph G. Nevins Physiology and Human Environment Award from ASHRAE. He is also a former specialist of UC Berkeley’s Center for Environmental Design Research and the Electronics Research Laboratory. He holds a BSME from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, and an SMME and PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
