Dereje Agonafer is a Presidential Distinguished Professor in MAE at The University of Texas. After receiving his PhD, he worked for 15 years at IBM and joined UTA in 1999. Since joining UTA, he has graduated 230 graduate students and is currently advising 16 PhDs and 9 MS students. His team collaborates with numerous technology companies including Facebook, Commscope, Mestex, and Nvidia. His recent awards include 2019 Heat Transfer Memorial Award and 2020 SemiTherm Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a fellow of NAI, ASME and AAAS. In 2019, he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
