The Chief Operating Officer of Legence since 2021, Steve oversees the day-to-day operations to ensure efficient project delivery, maximize profitability, and drive strategic growth for the 5,700-person company. Under his leadership, he manages all aspects of project execution, from design to construction, while maintaining quality standards and compliance with industry regulations. Steve is highly focused on pre-fabrication for mission-critical HVAC projects. His extensive experience and natural leadership qualities are instrumental in guiding Legence’s operations, ensuring exceptional operational outcomes, and supporting the company’s growth and success in the mission-critical HVAC industry. Legence is the leading provider of engineering, installation, and maintenance services for mission-critical systems in buildings. The company specializes in designing, fabricating, and installing complex HVAC, process piping, and other MEP systems for new facilities, as well as upgrading HVAC, lighting, and building controls in existing facilities to enhance efficiency and sustainability. Notably, more than 60% of the companies in the Nasdaq-100 index are Legence clients. Prior to becoming the COO of Legence, Steve was the president of Therma, a Legence company, for two years. Therma is a full-service design-build mechanical contractor with capabilities including HVAC, process piping, plumbing, process and HVAC controls, process skids, duct and pipe manufacturing, 24-hour HVAC and plumbing service, and design-build engineering. Steve brings 35 years of mission-critical HVAC industry experience to his current COO role. He has completed two apprenticeships – one in sheet metal and the other as an HVAC service technician. During his 22 years at Therma, he served in various leadership roles, including General Foreman, Labor Superintendent overseeing over 600 sheet metal workers, pipefitters, and plumbers, Project Manager, Operations Manager, and President. Additionally, Steve is a member of the MCA board and the Silicon Valley Pipe Trades board.
