As Director and Firmwide Leader Shumate Engineering Mission Critical Studio, Steve Spinazzola offers more than 40 years of experience in both mechanical design and project management on a wide range of corporate, mission-critical, educational, health and science, retail, and institutional projects. With a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University, Steve specialized in HVAC design. Steve is a registered professional engineer and is co-inventor of Hot Aisle containment in 2001 that has six patents and is currently being deployed in data centers all over the world. Steve also designed the first data center to use adiabatic cooling in series with a chilled water plant in 2012. Steve’s impressive list of clients is IBM, Verizon, General Services Administration, T. Rowe Price, and Johns Hopkins University. His work has won numerous awards, including the Chief of Engineers Award of Excellence from the U.S Army Corps of Engineers for the National Ground Intelligence Center.
